Synopsis:
In this Canadian martial-arts actioner, the DEA becomes desperate to bring dreaded druglord Mr. Li to justice and so teams up vice-detective Michael Reed with master-martial-artist Tyler Wilson to stop the crook. Before they can, they are taught the deadly "Eagle Claw" technique from Master Pan. The duo then enter Mr. Li's kickboxing contest which features Li's gigantic bodyguard Khan. Later the crooks and the heroes converge at Li's glittering nightclub, which is managed by his blonde-bombshell girl friend who is actually an undercover agent who ends up falling in love with Reed. With the club wired to explode in only minutes, the good-guys and the bad-guys engage in deadly, desperate mortal combat.There are different kinds of action movies...the intentionally good ones, like Bad Boys (1983), The Terminator, etc..Then you have the Bad action movies, which consists of plenty of ass kicking, no story, bad acting (see TC 2000). When I say Bad, i don't mean bad as in it sucks, but more like: no acting, no script. But in order to make a good bad action movie you have to make great fight scenes, acting not that bad for this type of movie, and the script half-okay, and this movie meets the standards. It keeps you entertained, I mean, going in you know Billy Blanks will kick the bad guy's ass, and he'll get the girl. When you rent a movie like Talons of the Eagle, you know that it isn't a quality movie, or else you would've known about it. So why do you rent it then? Because you wanna see Billy Blanks kick some serious ass, and see martial arts moves you've never seen before, plus there's also a certain atmosphere in which these films are made which I cannot describe, but there's a certain different kind of feeling when you watch movies like this...Those who see it will know what i'm talking about. Anyway, this movie, for all the reasons listed above, will not let you down. If it does, than that's because either you were looking for a movie without a Hollywood ending, or a movie that resembles more like Gone with the wind (which is a great movie, no doubt about it). Either way, if so, you're pretty dumb. No offense. Anyway this movie is the best way to put your brain in the freezer for a couple of hours and feel entertained. Oh yeah, for those who care about this, yes, there is nudity. The main place is practically a strip club. You desperate b*****ds. Anyway. it's a cool movie.
